Meu nome é Michael, mais conhecido como Nutella. Nascido e criado em Belo Horizonte, cidade cituada no estado de Minas Gerais/Brasil. Mochileiro de profissao, cheguei a Santiago depois de uma longa viagem a Bolivia e Peru. Por se tratar de uma grande cidade, pensava em ficar por, no máximo, 3 dias mas me apaixonei pelo modelo da cidade e da boa receptividade dos chilenos. Continuei mina viagem pela Argentina, voltei a Santiago para desfrutar um pouco mais e nao consegui mais sair.

Filho mais velho de uma familia de 5 membros e apaixonado pela liberdade, nao poderia estar melhor ambiente que este, um hostal. Aquí atendo e faço amizades com pessoas de distintas culturas e idéias, disfrutando sempre da “buena onda” que todo mochileiro vive durante sua trip.

Apos 4 meses na cidade, fiquei conhecido entre os colegas de trabalho como uma espécie de “guía” e frequentador da noite chilena na regiao do BellaVista. Entao, venham para Santiago com disposiçao a conhecer a cultura diurna e noturna chilena! Yé yé yé …

Meet the Staff - Brooklyn´s Finest!

Hello! My name is Robert and I´m originally from Brooklyn, NY... is there anywhere better? fugheddaboudit! I joined the Hostal Forestal family while I am studying abroad in Chile for a semester. I´m attending the Universidad Catolica here in Santiago and I’m a big fan of the school’s “Los Cruzados” football team.

Before coming to Chile I lived in Panama for three years as a US Peace Corps volunteer. During my time there I worked with a microfinance cooperative, taught Junior Achievement classes and rode a bull during my town´s patronales festival. The best part of Panama however was carnival, its not just Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans that know how to have fun!

In Santiago, my favorite things to do are: hit up the “Miercolos po” party that happens every Wednesday, catch up on some American sports at the California Cantina Bar, and of course, enjoy some delicious thin crust pizza and a cold beer at the Fabrica de Pizza restaurant while people watching on Calle Pio Nono. I usually work the night shift so make sure to say hello when you come back from your night out on the town in Santiago!

Hola, yo soy Gabi, nací en Hualañé, una comuna muy tranquila ubicada en la Región del Maule; me vine a vivir a Santiago hace ya varios años para empezar la universidad. Cuando terminaba mi carrera por cosas del destino y la suerte conocí a unos de los dueños de Hostal Forestal quien me ofreció unirme a esta enorme familia.

Gracias a él trabajo acá desde hace un poco más de un año y debo decir que ha sido una experiencia muy enriquecedora, he tenido la suerte de conocer personas maravillosas de casi todas partes del mundo, he aprendido mucho sobre culturas, países y formas de vida. Y por qué no decirlo, también le he enseñado a todos quienes se han transformado en amigos y a los que han querido saber, sobre lo que es Chile y lo que somos los chilenos, nuestra jerga, comidas y lo mejor de todo, nuestras malas costumbres.

La invitación es que vengan a conocer Chile, que se apropien de la ciudad, que sean parte de nuestra forma de vida y que obviamente se queden en Hostal Forestal. Todos serán bienvenidos!!!

We've just redesigned our hostel to offer you a better service. A new TV room was created on the second floor.

A flatscreen TV, home theater system and small library make this room the most comfortable place at the hostel to relax while watching movies.
Downstairs, new and larger public areas were created, providing you with a place to chill out and share the best BBQ with people from all around the world.

Also we have a fully equiped seating area beside the billiard table and the BBQ area so you can have meal, surf the internet and share lovely talks without leaving

the fun area. Making this even better we have free Wi-Fi and free coffe/tea for everyone 24 hours a day. So we welcome you to enjoy this completly renewed HOSTAL FORESTAL that will make you feel at home for sure!!!

CUMBRE GUACHACA 2011

Hi everybody, HOSTAL FORESTAL this time is inviting you to come to "LA CUMBRE GUACHACA" on april the 29th and 30th 2011. There you can enjoy the most tipical food, dancing and drinks of Chile. The show takes place at Estación Mapocho right next to the Cal y Canto metro estation and almost 10 minutes walking through the Parque Forestal from the hostel.

Free book fair at Parque Forestal.

Just a few streets from the hostel, walking through parque forestal, there's the 8th book fair taking place at  plaza Juan Sebastián Bach, featuring 40 stands full of bestsellers and Chilean classics. The best of all, very good prices! There are lots of different activities for the attendees including children's theater, storytelling, tarot reading, craft rooms, Japanese calligraphy and Book Raffle, all these immersed in an atmosphere of live music and Celtic dance.

Another perfect thing to do on these super hot afternoons.
